Hey There ....

Welcome!

This is a site where I highlight the music that I enjoy and hopefully, you will get some enjoyment from it too. My intention is to provide new and interesting songs, rarities (such as B-sides) from yesteryear, as well as other tracks that were hits (and sometimes not) - I guess that means anything at all really!

Of course, it's just another music blog, so that formula may change from time to time (no apologies offered for that). You might not like everything that I've posted, but you're bound to like something! It's also possible that I may just make the odd factual mistake, so please let me know if you happen to spot any such event & I'll fix it pronto.

If you have any sort of copyright issues with any of the material on this site, please advise me by email and it'll vanish (it's as simple as that).

Ratcat - "Baby Baby"

Back towards the end of the eighties and during the early nineties, there lived an Australian band known as Ratcat. They were a Sydney band who bombarded us with a series of Indie pop songs which just never seemed to stop coming and I have to say, I didn't mind that at all. I was going to say, "that ain't bad" which was the title of the first song I ever heard from the band and led me to purchase their EP, "Tingles," which consisted of six great tracks and was pretty good value for EP's at the time.

I never did manage to purchase the band's first album but I did buy their second album, "Blind Love," which featured both of the songs that I've included here today. The album was released in 1991 and it was a little ripper.

The fellows who made up the band at the time today's songs were recorded were Simon Day (guitar and vocals), Andrew Polin (drums) and Amr Zaid (bass). They were ably assisted by Robyn St Clair and Margaret Urlich, who both provided some backup on vocals. I'm not sure what the band members are up to these days, but Simon has been doing the rounds with a number of other bands and they do occasionally get together for those outdoor music festivals which always seem to be popping up these days.
